What we cover in Mediation
Joint Mediation Sessions
This is your opportunity to make the best arrangements that you can for your family going forward. When there are children involved, you will always be a family, it has just changed shape. The sessions usually last 90 mins and are scheduled at your convenience with enough time in between to reflect, research and hone your ideas for the way forward.

It is widely acknowledged that children benefit from time spent with both parents, when that is safe. Also, that children suffer more from conflict between parents than from the parents' separation itself.
In considering what fits your family best, it is useful to imagine the future. As parents you will both want to attend your child's wedding or graduation or school play. The way that your separation is conducted will directly impact on that. What may be just a few years of wrangling in the courts for you, could add up to the remainder of your child's childhood. So in mediation, we look for a calm approach that minimises the pain for all concerned.
The settlement or the split of assets is a hugely important part of separation. You need to divide up what you have so that you can make a new life apart. The split will depend on many factors ...

-
Are you married, cohabiting, or in a civil partnership?
-
How long you have been in this relationship?
-
What do you need to survive?
-
What can you earn going forward?

In mediation we work through all this together. There are no wrong answers, only options to be discussed and considered. Nothing said in mediation can be used by solicitors in court. The decisions that you come to are not binding unless you seek a consent order, which happens after the mediation process is over.
