Jemma Jupp

How it works
You can contact me through the contact form on the About page of this website or by writing to me at jemmajupp@gmail.com. We arrange to have an initial chat on the telephone for about 10-15 mins to see if you would like to take it further. There is no charge for this.
If you would like to proceed, we find a time for a confidential intake and assessment meeting (a MIAM) which lasts up to an hour. This can take place either online over Zoom or in person. After that, I would speak to your ex-partner. I would offer a short telephone call with your ex-partner also before the intake meeting to make sure that you are both prepared to go ahead. Then I would have a confidential intake meeting with them. The MIAM is a chance for you to tell me what you are hoping to achieve from the process. It is also important that I explain the mediation process and that we ensure that it will be safe for all involved.
The Agreement to Mediate is required as standard for any mediation to go ahead. It sets out the principles of mediation and signing it indicates that you have read and understood them. Once the Agreement to Mediate is signed, we meet all together over zoom or in person for a joint mediation session, which lasts up to 90 mins.
During this time, we will set out a plan for what the issues are to be discussed. Then it is over to you. The mediator provides a safe space for you to listen to each others' points of view and to make suggestions and proposals about how to move forward. If you have children, their best interests will be at the heart of this.
In mediation it is your agenda that is discussed but it is the mediator's meeting. The mediator will endeavour to enable you both to have the most constructive conversation that you can by guiding and informing it in a neutral and impartial way.
It is not possible to predict how many sessions will be required but generally it could take 3-5 sessions depending on the complexities involved. Once we complete the process, finances can be made legally binding.
I write up an Open Financial Statement, which lays out your assets and can be accessed by the court. This sits alongside the Summary of Proposals, which is confidential and without prejudice. This detailed document lays out the proposals you have come to in mediation and includes how you plan to divide your assets. It forms the basis of the consent order that your solicitor will submit to the court.

Intake Meeting (MIAM)
This one-to-one meeting lasts up to an hour and is where you tell me about your situation and what you hope to achieve through mediation. What you tell me in this meeting is kept between us. It is also the mediators obligation to explain fully about the mediation process, to screen for suitability and to inform you of the other options for Non Court Dispute Resolution
The cost of this is £120 per person

Joint Sessions
The Joint Mediation Sessions last up to 90 mins and can be on-line via Zoom or in person. They are scheduled at a time to suit everyone, usually during the working week. It is important that if the session is on Zoom, that you cannot be overheard and will not be interrupted. I will send out a brief summary of what was discussed after the meeting with a reminder of points that need action before the next one.
The cost of this is £140 per person

Open Financial Statement and Summary of Proposals
Once you are both satisfied that you have come to the end of the process, I will prepare the documents required. It is highly recommended that the financial arrangements are formalised by the court and these documents, drawn up by the mediator, will form the basis of a consent order that your solicitor will submit to the court for you.
The cost of the OFS £150 per person
The cost of the Summary £150 pp
